Ethlyn (Evie) Lloyd-Morris Evie is currently undertaking a PhD in Neuroscience at King’s College London, funded by the Medical Research Council, as part of the MRC DTP. Her PhD focusses on the role that defective mitochondrial transport may play in causing synaptic dysfunction during ageing and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease.
Evie obtained a BA Hons in Experimental Psychology from the University of
Oxford (Wadham College) and an MSc in Neuroscience from King’s College London. Evie spent almost 2 years working as a Research Assistant at the Oxford Drug Discovery Institute, where she was part of a high-profile, international academic-industrial collaboration. Her research explored the
role of aggregation and oxidative stress in Parkinson’s disease, and she developed microscopy-based assays to screen drug compounds. Evie is passionate about the commercialisation of science and hopes her role at the Innovation Forum will help facilitate better connections between academics, industrial partners, and investors.
