Kathleen Gunardi
University Outreach Officer
Kathleen is a BSc Biochemistry graduate from Imperial College London. For her final year thesis under Professor Stuart Haslam in the Department of Life Sciences, she explored the feasibility of engineering S. cerevisiae to develop recombinant mucin fragments for biomarker detection in ulcerative colitis patients. During her third year, she gained pharmaceutical industry experience as a Marketing Assistant for the Gastroenterology Business Unit at Takeda UK.
Kathleen enjoys collecting data, solving puzzles, and improving processes—skills she developed through her thesis and industrial placement. Passionate about life sciences, she is eager to explore different industry functions, which led her to join Innovation Forum! Beyond academics, she has also led diverse teams, from serving as President of Imperial’s Biochemistry Society to co-captaining a professional dance crew in London. She values learning from others, constantly improving herself, and finding ways to empower those she works with.
