Fatima Ceballos

Fatima is a PhD candidate in Biochemical Engineering at University College London, focusing on utilising microbial communities for mixed plastic waste degradation. She relocated from Spain to the UK in 2016 and pursued an Integrated Master’s degree in Biochemistry before her doctoral studies.
Fatima’s strong interest in bridging the gap between academia and industry led to her participation in the Biotech Young Entrepreneurs Scheme (YES21) competition. Fatima is passionate about translating biotechnological research into real-world solutions for current environmental problems.
