Ailsa is currently undertaking her PhD at University College London (UCL) focusing on intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) in viruses where she works across several multidisciplinary fields including structural biology, virology, and drug discovery. She has a broad biology background in translational science; previously working in both research and clinical settings. During her undergraduate degree she moved to the USA for a year to work at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, pharmaceutical department where she was studying the underlying pathology of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). After her undergraduate degree she moved into clinical science, working in a diagnostic lab in the NHS which established her passion for translating scientific research into real-world solutions. Ailsa's interest in innovation and entrepreneurship in healthcare led to her involvement in several accelerator programmes including Biotech YES 2023 and the London Bioscience Innovation Centre accelerator programme where she won the 2023 Early Career Award.
